I recently updated Taras Machula portrait for his web site and social media. I’m alway’s trying to create portraits showing the personality of my clients. It’s important to me to bring out character in everyone I photograph. Taras is an expert in traditional hypnotherapy techniques and modalities as well as spiritual regression. He specifically wanted to show his caring nature though his portrait. After trying a few top’s and backgrounds, I believe we both accomplished the goal and agreed this one was the best.

Taras area of expertise are depression, trauma, addiction, weight loss, smoking, anxiety, eating disorders, and grief.

Business Portraits on Location

I love my studio, I have the space and equipment to create beautiful portraits. However, there are times when I’ve been asked to shoot on location. Especially if my client would like 30 employee’s photographed on the same day.

It’s allot more work to pack up, set up and tear down equipment. All I need is a little space is to do this for your business. Here’s a sample of how my studio on location looks. I’m glad it was a overcast day, as I was able to photograph towards the window. What you don’t see is I’m swished right up against a walls every way! It all worked out in the end, and here are a few samples of my work.

All the portraits taken will used for the company’s web site and social media. Some of the benefits of setting up a portrait studio on location is there’s not much disruption to the work day and all portraits are uniform in lighting and background. When’s the last time your employee’s had an update?

Just Friends

These long time friends met in Africa and haven’t seen each other in a very long time. They both immigrated to different country’s. He’s in Texas, she’s in Winnipeg. He came to visit his long time friend in Winnipeg, and wanted to capture it with a professional portrait. How wonderful to celebrate special friendships this time of year!

I recently photographed Kathy Foley for a business portrait. She brought her husband for encouragement and thought he would enjoy seeing the photography studio. Like most, Kathy brought a few different tops and we coordinated them with backgrounds. After Kathys session she changed, and I realized the couple was wearing Jets jerseys… so cute! I just had to photograph them. GO JETS GO!

Don’t forget mom + dad!

I alway’s recommend photographing mom + dad separate from the family. After all they are the reason the family exist. Quite often it’s been years since their last professional portrait and it only takes a few minutes. I know their children and grandchildren will appreciate the portrait down the road.

Clothing play’s a large part in family portrait. You have to think of what you’re doing with this portrait. Which wall will it hang on? What are the colour’s of the room’s decor? Is it going on shelf? Framed or floated on an easel? As someone with an interior decorating certificate I can guide you for the best location of your portrait, and what colours you should be wearing to compliment the space. Of course these are only recommendations, as you can wear what you like.

Everyones clothing compliments one another, and placement of those colours is the key in making it work.
Black, Blue, Green, Burgundy, Yellow colours of clothing. Not my first choice, but it definitely worked for this family!

I recently photographed a newly renovated room at the Alt Hotel in downtown Winnipeg.

This spacious and modern room comes with a unique view of Portage Ave. The room offers a lounge area with ottomans. Perfect for getting comfortable and enjoying a chat or snack. It’s conveniently located directly across from the Canada Life Centre.
