Sara is a New Years Eve Baby. These photo’s were taken on her 9th day. I always try to photograph a few differant backgrounds with differant lighting. Sara was a little angel, and I just loved photographing her. Her Grandma wanted me to create an album for her, as she could decide which photo’s she wanted printed. This is a 5″x 5″ album I designed… enjoy!
One of my favourite types of photography is low key, which basically means Black clothing on a Black background. It focus’s the viewer right to the most important part of the photo. The expression! This family agreed with my reguest and the results are just stunning. I Love how they turned out. The Little baby was only 8 day’s old and wide awake for all his portraits. No way would he fall asleep, I had to wait for a blink. so… now you know my secret for those sleeping baby photos. Sometimes it’s just a quick finger!
I had a wonderful time photographing this amazing lady. Dianne Szelag owner of Investment Pieces! Her passion for the business of fashion is the driving force behind her dream come true. Dianne’s boutique, Investment Pieces, was years in the making and is much, much more than a clothing store. In addition to its clothing lines, it serves as a venue for an assortment of artwork.
Dianne wanted to give business women the opportunity to experience fashion in a whole new way. “The women I’m hoping to serve are outstanding women who deserve outstanding clothing.” Dianne’s approach to fashion is a balance between what she learned during her career as a professional fashion designer, and what she has learned through 25 years of serving clients’ financial planning needs in her current wealth management practice.
Investment Pieces is located at 749 St. Mary’s Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba. The website gives you a preview of our shopping experience — but Dianne urge’s you to come in and experience the boutique for yourself. You deserve it! I think a shopping date is in my near future, how about yours?!
I’m excited to tell you that Andrew is seeking the NDP nomination for Winnipeg Centre. With your help, he can be the next Member of Parliament for the heart of Winnipeg!
Winnipeg Centre needs a better MP – someone connected to our community, who will speak up for all of us. Andrew has lived and worked in Winnipeg Centre for the last 28 years, it’s where he and his wife raised their family. For 15 years Andrew has been the MLA for Minto, and has worked hard both on Broadway and on Sargent to be both a strong voice and a friendly face for the West End.
The heart of Winnipeg is an incredibly diverse and wonderful place. But there are serious problems – health care cuts, addictions, crime, rising tuition costs – and we need an MP who will work hard to find solutions and speak up for all of us.
I had the opportunity to photograph Adrian Schulz the president of Imperial Properties and Norma Villamajor operations manager. What a dynamic team heading Imperial Properties in Winnipeg. This portrait was shot on location at the main office in Winnipeg. Every year Imperial Properties releases a new’s letter at the end of year with the highlights of the company along with a portrait. What a lovely tradition this family has. Instead of recognizing the years, the family has Professional Portraits at 21 months then at 21 years! I’m not sure if I’ll be around to photograph the next one, but it’s a nice thought! I did a few with studio lighting then natural lighting, both show her sweet smile!
I had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful office by Govan Brown. I love all the windows and open feeling. Govan Brown is a national construction and general contracting firm specializing in commercial, retail and hospitality interiors. The company was founded in 1994 by Ralph Govan, John Brown, and Jon Taylor who collectively co-owned and managed the Govan Brown Group of Companies.
I recently headed North to Gimli to Photograph Viking Park. I’ve been to Gimli many times, but have never been to this beautiful little hideaway. It’s tucked away along the banks of Lake Winnipeg. Viking Park includes three gardens with indigenous plants, grasses and flowers. The Troll Storm Garden, Elf Garden, and Breakwater Garden. The Viking statue was first erected in 1967 to mark Canada’s 100th anniversary. My local source told me the statue has moved a few times, but finally found his home here. Innovative Laser Works in Winnipeg hired me to showcase all their amazing metal work. Here’s a few of my favourites. The lighting wasn’t perfect in the morning for some images, so I hung around until it was overcast. Check out the difference and detail in these images… Also the little troll house at the base of the Viking feet. How cute is that!

Urban Barn on Kenaston, chose Willow Place to decorate this room. As I’m also a residential decorator and work part-time at Urban Barn. It was my pleasure to volunteer my photography services for this great cause!

I loved being able to use three different area’s of my studio to photograph this mother and son. Backdrop’s tend to be more formal while the other backgrounds are more casual and offer natural light with the large windows. They couldn’t decide what they wanted so I suggested trying them all! Wearing black could go either way for a certain look. I love the simplicity of the clothing, as it focus’s more on the expression, lighting, and posing, rather than what they are wearing. I’m always curious why people have a professional portrait taken, their answer… Just because!
