Artista Homes

I had the opportunity to photograph a show home worth 1.6 million. Built by Artista Homes in Winnipeg.  Artista Homes Ltd. is a family owned company, guided by Antonino Cotroneo Sr’s 60 years of construction experience. A father’s passion inspired his four sons to realize their dream, resulting in the founding of Artista Homes Ltd.

Their goal is to revolutionize the new housing industry. Innovative ideas and cutting edge design coupled with quality craftsmanship are the groundwork of every Artista home. The importance of quality is proven by Artista’s commitment to having every project personally overseen by the owners.

Artista honors the philosophy that success is dependent on client satisfaction. The belief is, this can only be achieved by maintaining open communication. A free exchange of ideas with the client is always encouraged. Realize your dreams… allow Artista Homes to create a home as unique as you are.

Artista Homes… Innovative Ideas for Better Living

This one is gorgeous from top to bottom! It’s situated on a lake in Bridgewater forest.

Niakwa golf and country club wedding photos

Niakwa golf and country club is a beautiful setting for a intimate wedding. Just look at these manicured lawns!  not a blade out of place.  On a overcast day the lighting is just perfect.

The beautiful brick of the club house was  nice for a few casual portraits of this happy couple.

Banff Alberta on Instagram

I’ve lived in Winnipeg for most of my life, but have family all over Alberta.    I’ve been traveling back and forth for as long as I can remember!   I recently just came back from another trip as my dad just celebrated turning 86!   I also started dating a wonderful man who live’s by Calgary.  So I have another reason to head west.

This trip to Alberta was with  my iPhone,  as sometimes even photographers need a little break from all the bells and whistles.    I wanted to share a few images that I posted on my Instagram account.  westjet

Thanks west jet for the smooth ride and clean windows!

In The Backyard

There is still plenty of summer left for a family portrait in the backyard. When photographing in the city  it’s sometimes hard to avoid the neighbours. But don’t worry I have a few tricks for that scenario!  Keeping the neighbours out  was not the case for this  portrait.  This backyard seemed to go on forever. It’s hard to believe it’s right in the middle of Winnipeg.

I brought stools for the session, however I loved the families adirondack chairs. It keeps the portrait personal, and they match the casual outfits the family chose to wear. This portrait  will be hanging  over the piano.

I had to try a couple of locations in this beautiful yard and this large tree was perfect for a casual portrait.  The client chose this image for the Christmas Card… Yup you read that right.  This is one organized lady! familyPortraitswinnipegmb

I’m now a certified decorator!

For the last 2 1/2 years I’ve been taking the residential decorating course at Red River Community College part time.  My whole life has been photography related, so when I found out all the photography courses I was instructing at RRC were coming to a end I wanted to try something new.

I’ve always had a love of interior space’s.   Photographing for real estate agents, and designers has inspired me over the years. The elements and principles of design in decorating definitely overlap into photography.

space, form and shape, line, texture and ornament, colour, balance, rhythm, emphasis, proportion and scale, harmony, variety, and unity.

Just add “lighting” and you have all the elements for a awesome interior photo.

The decorating course has been a long haul, going back to school wasn’t easy, but I really enjoyed the process and met some fabulous new aspiring designers alone the way. The last course was very intense,  It seemed like a part-time job with the amount of homework.  I probably spent 20-25 hours a week for the past 10 weeks.  Designing, sourcing out materials, created a colour scheme, hand draw floor plans and elevations to scale then ink them, create a detailed lighting plan, construct a conceptual model and putting everything together in a final presentation which happened last night!  I’m exhausted just writing it, but have such a sense of accomplishment that I did it!

This photo is what it all boils down to, but if you’d like to see more there’s a link at the bottom of part of the presentation.

I look forward for opportunities on how to incorporate my decorating knowledge with my photography expertise.

Small Weddings

I love photographing  small intimate weddings.  These are usually the second time around folks.  Just a few family and friends,  a little wine some appetizers and a JP.  That’s truly all you need! This happy couple did just that at the Hotel Fort Garry. Such a beautiful couple inside and out.  I’d like to wish them all the best in love and laughter!  weddingphotographybymichele

Beautiful Family Portraits

Celebrating 44 years of marriage this couple decided not to wait another year for their family portrait even with a grand child on the way!   I love this casual posed look.  It’s one of my favourite  clothing choices as the viewer is drawn to the faces not the clothing.

This image will be a 36″ wall portrait that will hang over the fire place. Congratulation’s to this wonderful family!

Feeling Stressed Out?

Cal Botterill says these tips can calm you down:

calbotterill.jpg

. Carve out personal space in your day.

. Take a block of holiday days, if possible, rather than dividing them up.

. Accept your mistakes and forgive yourself.

. Focus on the process and not the outcome.

. Ask for help.

. Realize you can’t know it all.

. Eat and drink well.

. Remember the airline oxygen mask protocol.  “Before you try to help anyone, look after yourself”.

Great advice from a spots psychologist!
