I love photographing small intimate weddings. These are usually the second time around folks. Just a few family and friends, a little wine some appetizers and a JP. That’s truly all you need! This happy couple did just that at the Hotel Fort Garry. Such a beautiful couple inside and out. I’d like to wish them all the best in love and laughter! 
Celebrating 44 years of marriage this couple decided not to wait another year for their family portrait even with a grand child on the way! I love this casual posed look. It’s one of my favourite clothing choices as the viewer is drawn to the faces not the clothing.
This image will be a 36″ wall portrait that will hang over the fire place. Congratulation’s to this wonderful family!

Photographing doctors is incredibly humbling for me. The amount of care and compassion required to help others certainly takes a special kind of person. Dr. Gigi Osler is a ear, nose and throat surgeon. She volunteers overseas and runs a busy household. It was a pleasure to meet and photograph this amazing women. 
I attended the Home and Garden Show at the RBC Convention Centre in Winnipeg this weekend. The Urban Barn main stage hosted Jillian Harris and Todd Talbot from Love it or List it Vancouver! I have a celebrity crush on these two. Their playful interaction with each other is fun to watch and nice to see them acting the same way for their presentation.
I’m about to begin my last decorating class for my certificate in residential decorating. It’s been a long haul on a part-time basis. The course at Red River college has been more about designing and re-designing space then decorating. I feel like I’ve learnt so much and I’m thinking more about how to incorporate decorating/design with my photography expertise. I’m so excited to see what the future holds!

June also created my beautiful logo a couple of years ago. I first meet June at a Women Business Owners Meeting and we just clicked. Amit needed a new business portrait, but a few different styles to update his website. He decided both business and casual looks were required depending on the marketing material. He wasn’t sure about the background colour, so I suggested all white. Photographing on white is called high-key photography. His image can be used as it or easily cropped and placed on a differant background at a later date.

It’s so wonderful to have repeat clients, and I love to watch their families grow. My client colour co-ordinated the girls and boys. The red is such a powerful colour that black was the only option for me and I just love how the focus is on their sweet faces. Another beautiful portrait for the annual Christmas card 🙂
I’m now a certified decorator!
For the last 2 1/2 years I’ve been taking the residential decorating course at Red River Community College part time. My whole life has been photography related, so when I found out all the photography courses I was instructing at RRC were coming to a end I wanted to try something new.
I’ve always had a love of interior space’s. Photographing for real estate agents, and designers has inspired me over the years. The elements and principles of design in decorating definitely overlap into photography.
space, form and shape, line, texture and ornament, colour, balance, rhythm, emphasis, proportion and scale, harmony, variety, and unity.
Just add “lighting” and you have all the elements for a awesome interior photo.
The decorating course has been a long haul, going back to school wasn’t easy, but I really enjoyed the process and met some fabulous new aspiring designers alone the way. The last course was very intense, It seemed like a part-time job with the amount of homework. I probably spent 20-25 hours a week for the past 10 weeks. Designing, sourcing out materials, created a colour scheme, hand draw floor plans and elevations to scale then ink them, create a detailed lighting plan, construct a conceptual model and putting everything together in a final presentation which happened last night! I’m exhausted just writing it, but have such a sense of accomplishment that I did it!

LOFT DESIGN
