Cat Truck Driver – Oh Baby!

How cute is this little guy?  Being a baby photographer in Winnipeg can be fun and I always try to be a little creative.   This little guy’s big brother brought a cat truck to play with and we ended up using it for some of the photo shoots.  As a preemie Cash (yes that’s his name) only weighed 4 Lbs.  Adorable in the little truck! photographybabywinnipeg

Family Portraits at Sargent Park School

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing Mr. Andrew Swan and his family for many years. A politician in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba in a 2004 by-election.

Every year the portrait is taken in a different location of his riding.  This year the family portrait was at Sargent Park School.  It’s been wonderful to watch his daughter’s grow up into beautiful teenagers.  This was the first image I took and it was a keeper 🙂

The Property Brothers

As a event photographer, I have the opportunity to meet some celebrities.  The first celebrity was Adam Beach, a Winnipeg Native.  This past week was the Property Brothers! I was excited to meet them.  Not only as a photographer, but as a decorating student and  I’m a fan of their tv show on HGTV.

The Scott brothers were in Winnipeg to promote Scotia bank, and I was hired to photograph them at a private event with real estate agents.  Jonathan and Drew Scott are incredibly nice. They poke fun at each other and really ham it up in front of the crowd. Even when we were waiting for the next person, they struck a pose for me.

After the event, I was able to get a photo with them… Yes they are tall I’m 5’6!

I asked Jonathan to take a selfie of us, and this was my favourite one!  I know it’s a little blurry, but I love our expressions.

Doctors Manitoba 2015 Awards

Even though I have 2400 sq foot studio I enjoy photographing on location.  It’s a little challenging trying to use available light, with tight rooms but it always works out!  Over the last few weeks I’ve been photographing Doctors in their environment.  The photos were used in the 107th annual general meeting brochure and given out at the awards banquet.  I’d like to Congratulate  the following Doctors and their deserving awards.  It was such a pleasure to meet them all and learn the stories behind the award.

Canadian Breast Foundation

I know a few people who have fought cancer and beat it, but sadly who  lost their battle too.  It has been in my family and I’ve seen close friends deal with it. I was truly honoured to photograph Women Business Owners fundraiser for breast cancer.  A wonderful event with a great lunch and fashion show.

Portraits for online Dating

I must admit I’ve done a little bit of online dating in the past and remember some of the horrible images.  I know photos can be so misleading, if not taken properly they can actually make you look terrible…. just look at some selfies.

My friend Robin hasn’t had a portrait since high school, and truth be known doesn’t like having her photo taken.  She  needed a few really great images for her online dating profile, and I  forced her to come in for a portrait.  I’ve known Robin since we were 13 years old.  The last time I took her photo was in 1981 when we travelled to England for a month.  Fresh out of high school!

This is the first time I’ve photographed her professionally. I hope she has good luck on the site 🙂

Lunch + Camera = Food Photography!

Who doesn’t LOVE looking at good food photography?

I’ll buy a recipe book just for the photos. I use to shoot for ciao magazine (pre digital) and loved it!  In 2000 I followed my heart to teach photography at Red River Community College and gave up shooting  for some magazines.   15 years later and RRCC has eliminated all the part-time photography courses.  The last course I taught ended a few weeks ago.

I had a student that truly inspired me.  He is a chef and I absolutely LOVED his food photography.  Chef’s certainly have a artistic eye for plating food, and the Manitoba Club has a great one!

I find myself wondering what’s next on my photographic journey.  Remembering my love of food photography,  I  spent a day in the studio with my lunch + camera.     Here’s the result…Food Photography Food Photography Food Photography Food Photography Food Photography

I love apples, I eat one every day.  But this is the first time I’ve ever photographed one.  I may need to continue this, as there are so many possibilities.
